Until September 2012 Östers IF (from Växjö) played their matches at Värendsvallen. Värendsvallen was opened in 1966 and the record attendance is from 1967 when 26 404 attended an Allsvenskan play-off between Öster and Brage. In recent years the capacity was around 10 000 though. Being an athletics stadium it was not the best of stadiums for watching football though and in the 80s and 90s, despite having a decent team, attendances were very low and dreams of a new stadium started. When Sweden were awarded the 2013 Women European Championships the dream became a reality. Building works started in March 2011 and 18 months later Myresjöhus Arena was ready. Värendsvallen will remain as an athletics stadium.
