Aarhus Fremad

Ground: Riisvangen Stadion

Visits: 1

Date: 14th June 2025

Match:  Aarhus Fremad - Fremad Amager  1-1  (2. Division)

Attendance: 3 130

Riisvangen Stadion in Aarhus is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful grounds in Denmark and it has been a target of mine for quite some while. It is around 5 hours by car for me to Aarhus and that is really too far to do for one game only, especially since I have to pay toll for both bridges. With my summer holidays starting earlier than usual, the last round of matches in 2.Division (level 3) being held 14 June was a perfect opportunity for me. On Friday I started my journey with a game in Kerteminde. From Kerteminde it then took me around two hours to Riisvangen Stadion. There is no car park at the ground but with plenty of street parking available I had found a good spot for my car straight away. Kick-off was 14.00 and 90 minutes prior to kick-off there were already fans queuing to get inside. Aarhus Fremad has already secured promotion to 1. Division and today's visitors, Fremad Amager, would join them with a victory at Riisvangen and defeat for 2nd placed Middelfart.

There is only one small wooden stand at Riisvangen and the ground can be described as a grass bowl. With a temperature of 22°C and a clear sky in combination of it being a promotion party this was to be as good as it gets when it comes to groundhopping. More than 3,000 spectators made their way to Riisvangen Stadion and with the exception of the 50 or so Fremad Amager fans everyone had a great afternoon. At times it felt like being at a gigantic picnic!

Aarhus Fremad scored early on to make it 1-0 and with Middelfart taking the lead against Skive a miracle had to happen in order for Fremad Amager to be promoted. In the 2nd half the visitors equalised but it ended 1-1 at Riisvangen. After the final whistle most home supporters stayed behind to watch on as Aarhus Fremad lifted the 2. Division trophy. Next season Aarhus Fremad will play level 2 football and the club has been given dispensation for one year to continue to play at Riisvangen Stadion. All in all a great day out for me and tomorrow I finish off the tour with a game in Fynsserien.
