Assyriska BKGround: Välens Idrottsplats Visits: 1 Date: 6th June 2025 Match: Assyriska BK - Överås Lunden 2-1 (Division 3 Mellersta Götaland) Attendance: 74 One of the reasons I did this tour was the possibility of visiting two games on Friday 6 June, Sweden's national day. My first game of the day, Hestrafors v Jonsered at Bollevi, ended 15.50 and 20 minutes later I was at my hotel next to Landvetter airport. Once at my hotel I could rest and after an early dinner I set off towards Välens IP and my 2nd game of the day. Due to the ongoing upgrade of Ruddalens IP, Assyriska BK (as well as Västra Frölunda) are playing at the nearby Välens IP this season. When I arrived there was heavy rain coming down and in combination with the strong wind I was starting to ask myself why I am actually here! The rain went away though and once inside I met English groundhoppers Daniel and Richard who were in Gothenburg this weekend. As is most often the case it was nice to have a chat with them about football and groundhopping. Välens IP itself is not the most glamorous ground to visit but at least I had nice company during the match. Daniel counted to 74 spectators and at half-time those of us present had seen Assyriska BK score the only goal of the first half. In the 2nd Överås Lunden equalised early early on but above all the clouds went away and suddenly the sun was visible! The evening was by now much nicer than when the match started and in the 87th minute Assyriska BK scored again to win 2-1. Seven goals for me today and despite all the rain earlier in the day I was quite pleased as I left Välens IP. I made a short de-tour and dropped Daniel and Richard off at the bus station in Västra Fröluna before leaving for my hotel and a good night's sleep.
