HestraforsGround: Bollevi Visits: 1 Date: 6th June 2025 Match: Hestrafors IF - Jonsereds IF 1-3 (Division 2 Västra Götaland) Attendance: 150 6 June is Sweden's National Day and nowadays it is also a public holiday. This year 6 June was on a Friday making this a perfect weekend for a mini-tour. I set off at 9am and after 3h 40 min of driving I arrived at Bollevi, 5 km north of Bollebygd. It rained throughout my journey but when I inspected the pitch it seemed to be in a fine condition. Bollevi is the home of Hestrafors IF and 2025 is the first ever season for them in Division 2 Västra Götaland (level 4). At the moment Hestrafors are third from bottom which would mean relegation play-offs. I was at Bollevy 50 minutes prior to kick-off and then the rain had almost stopped. As kick-off approached the intensity of the rain increased and at kick-off it was heavy rain coming down. Thankfully, I had brought my golf style umbrella and that kept me dry. There is a small seated stand at Bollevi but that is unfortunately uncovered. In the 1st half Hestrafors played quite well and at half-time they were deservedly 1-0 up. During the break the rain eased and in the first 15-20 minutes of the 2nd half the umbrellas could be taken down. The joy was short-lived though and it once again started to rain quite heavily. As I was back under my umbrella someone approached me and said “Surely it is PG?” I obviously am myself and looked up and noticed a friend who I used to play table tennis with and until last summer he lived some 250 m from where I live. His eldest son is nowadays playing for Hestrafors (on loan from Qviding) and he was at the match with his youngest son (IFK Göteborg academy player) and daughter. It was actually the daughter who had recognised me and she had to convince her father it was actually I who was at Bollevi. What can I say, sometimes the world is really small! We could then watch on as the visitors from Jonsered scored three times to win 3-1 at Bollevi. A disappointing end for Hestrafors and my friend´s son. We said goodbye to each other and 20 minutes later I could check-in at my hotel next to Landvetter airport. My 2nd game of the day would not start until 7pm so plenty of time to relax and get something to eat and drink.
