IFK Trelleborg

Ground: Vångavallen

Visits: 4  (1 for an IFK Trelleborg match)

Date: 20th August 2016

Match: IFK Trelleborg - Kulladal  1-1  (Division 3 Södra Götaland)

Attendance: 120

This Saturday I couldn´t find a game at a new ground within a reasonable distance. Going through my options I decided to visit Vångavallen in Trelleborg, the home of Trelleborgs FF but also the home of IFK Trelleborg. IFK Trelleborg play in Division 3 Södra Götaland and in this league I only have one ground (Dösjöbro IP) left to visit. Since I want to complete the league properly as well as getting new pictures of Vångavallen I didn´t mind going back to Vångavallen though. It also gave me an opportunity to visit Södra Åby, a small village situated in the countryside 10 km north of Trelleborg. This is where my mother grew up and where my ancestors lived for 300 years. Last time I was in Södra Åby was in the late 90s but having been there many, many times I had no problems navigating the small country roads. From Kristianstad it would take me around 1h 40 minutes to drive to Trelleborg via Malmö but this time it took me an additional 40 minutes. That included a stop at the cemetery where my grandparents are buried. This was of course very emotional for me and after a short stop outside the house they used to live in I continued towards Trelleborg. Kick-off was at 14.00 and around 13.10 I parked my car outside Vångavallen.

Last time I was at Vångavallen was in 2007 for the opening game in Allsvenskan between Trelleborgs FF and Malmö FF. More than 9 000 packed Vångavallen that day but nowadays the capacity is around 6 000. IFK Trelleborg are mid-table and can´t be relegated or promoted. Kulladal on the other hand wants to avoid the relegation play-offs and brought around 30 fans to Vångavallen this afternoon. In total only around 120 was at Vångavallen but at least the weather was nice. IFK Trelleborg was (deservedly) 1-0 up at half-time but in the second half Kulladal had most of the chances. With 20 minutes to go Kulladal equalized and then pressed on for the winner. The best chance was the last kick of the game but the home goalkeeper made a great save and the game at Vångavallen ended 1-1. Dösjöbro are playing my local team (Nosaby) next Saturday and most likely I will complete Division 3 Södra Götaland then.
