Kiviks AIF

Ground: Solevi Idrottsplats

Visits: 1

Date: 16th May 2025

Match: Kivik/St Olof - Önneköp  1-4  (Division 5 Skåne Sydöstra)

Attendance: 90

Kivik is a small town (pop 900) situated by the Baltic Sea. It is famous for Kiviks Marknad, the biggest annual fair in Sweden, and being capital of the apple district. It used to be a fishing village but nowadays I am not sure if there are any full-time fishing boats with Kivik as their home harbour. There is a famous fish restaurant though and Kivik is an attractive location when it comes to buying summer houses. Unfortunately not that many children are being born in the Kivik area and with the local football club, Kiviks AIF, facing a shortage of players they (since 2024) have a joint team with neighbours Sankt Olof. That means five matches at Kvarnvallen in Sankt Olof and five at Solevi IP in Kivik during 2025. Having visited Solevi for groundspotting a few years ago I know what a lovely and beautiful ground it is. Situated less than 150 m from the Baltic Sea it had been on my radar for quite a while and when the weather forecast said a clear sky I decided it was finally time to attend a match at Solevi IP.

Kick-off for Kivik/St Olof v Önneköp this Friday evening was at 19.00 and after a visit to the harbour I parked my car outside the ground some 30 minutes prior to kick-off. The ground was inaugurated 8 July 1951 and 2,500 spectators watched on as Malmö FF won 5-0. Tonight I counted 90 spectators with around 25 of those supporting the visitors from Önneköp. From the grass bank on the west side you had not only a great view of the pitch but also a view of the open sea, very nice! On the pitch it was the visitors who dominated and at half-time it was 0-2. Kivik/St Olof pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but Önneköp scored two more goals to win 4-1 at Solevi. Solevi IP should be on every groundhoppers bucket list, it is definitely one of the most beautiful lower league grounds I have visited in Sweden.
