Morud/Veflinge

Ground: VVS Fyn Arena

Visits: 1

Date: 15th June 2025

Match: Morud/Veflinge - KRFK  3-2  (Fynsserien)

Attendance: 220

The 3rd and final match on my trip to Denmark was Morud/Veflinge v KRFK (Krogsbølle/Roerslev FK) in Fynsserien. I stayed the night in Vejle and with Morud being an hour's drive it was a perfect stop on my way back home. Kick-off was 11am and 30 minutes prior to kick-off I parked my car outside the ground. This was a fixture in the penultimate round of Fynsserien (level 6) and with Morud/Veflinge being two points ahead of 2nd placed ØB it was possible there was to be a promotion party today as well. Morud/Veflinge play at VVS Fyn Arena which has an artificial pitch and lacks a proper stand. Being an important match for the home team I was expecting a fairly big crowd. I counted 170 spectators but one of my Danish colleagues, who counted shortly before half-time counted 220, so I will go with that number! Morud/Veflinge made it 1-0 early on but two counter-attacks later it was 1-2. With ØB winning their game Morud/Veflinge really needed to find some goals and shortly before half-time they were given a lifeline. A cheap penalty was scored and it was 2-2 at half-time

I spent most of the 2nd half chatting with the three Danish groundhoppers present and we agreed Morud/Veflinge seemed to have run out of energy. I was expecting an onslaught on the KRFK goal but that was not the case. It was an even 2nd half but in the 81st minute Morud/Veflinge scored their third goal of the day meaning 3-2 and a return to top spot. In stoppage time KRFK hit the bar and the post in the same situation but somehow failed to score. It ended 3-2 in Morud and the promotion spot to Danmarksserien will now be decided in the last round next weekend.

From Morud I then had around three hours to drive until I was back home. At least that was what I thought but due to “Broloppet”, a half-marathon across the Öresund bridge it took me four hours. The queue was even longer in the opposite direction but that was apparently due to accidents and not only half the bridge being closed. It was nice to get back home though!
