IFK Malmö played at Malmö Idrottsplats until Malmö Stadion was opened in time for the 1958 World Cup. In 1999 both Malmö FF and IFK Malmö decided Malmö Stadion was too big and the clubs moved back to the newly renovated Malmö Idrottsplats. When Malmö Idrottsplats had an artificial pitch installed (2009) IFK Malmö once again moved to Malmö Stadion. By now Malmö FF had moved to the new and modern Swedbank Stadion and IFK Malmö is nowadays the only club playing league matches at Malmö Stadion.
