The last ever (?) Allsvenskan match at Malmö Stadion was in November 2008. From the 2009 season onwards Malmö FF will play at Swedbank Stadion (next door to Malmö Stadion). Malmö Stadion, which will remain as an athletics ground, was built for the 1958 World Cup and hosted 5 matches in that tournament: West Germany - Argentina (3-1) Argentina - Northern Ireland (3-1) West Germany - Northern Ireland (2-2) Northern Ireland - Czechoslovakia (2-1 AET) West Germany - Yugoslavia (1-0)
In 1992 Malmö Stadion hosted 3 matches in the EURO -92 tournament (I attended all three): England - Denmark (0-0) England - France (0-0) Denmark - France (2-1)
In recent years the official capacity have been 26,500 but as late as 1993 the second ever biggest crowd for a Malmö FF match, 28 716, came to see the first Allsvenskan derby for 24 years between Malmö FF and Helsingborg. The match, where a young Henrik Larsson played for Helsingborg, ended 3-3 and everyone who was there, including myself, will never forget that evening.
Since the 2009 season IFK Malmö, currently in Division 3, are playing their matches at Malmö Stadion.
